The concept of neologism in modern English

Community development and innovative technologies inherently reflected in recruiting and modify the modern vocabulary of the English language. Researchers in neology indicate greater activity of occurrences of new words and phrases that reflect contemporary realities and changes in various spheres of life. There is a need in highlighting the concept of neologism and features of its formation.

The term "neologism" (from the Greek. Neos - new and logos - word) - a new word or phrase created to refer to something new (previously unknown) object or phenomenon. But, according to A. Zatsnyy, defining neologisms as words or phrases should not be considered exhaustive, as this definition includes not all kinds of innovations [3]. Neologisms are linguistic, lexical, semantic, stylistic and individually authors. vocabulary neologism language

According to researchers, neologisms can be divided into:

1) own neologisms (novelty shapes combined with the novelty of contents)

bio-computer - a computer that simulates the nervous system of living organisms; thought-processor - a computer that logically builds and develops ideas.

2) transnomination that combines novelty forms words meaning, which has already passed before another form: sudser - soap opera; big C (med.) - a disease of cancer.

3) semantic innovation and rethinking (new value affects the form, which was already in the language): bread - Money, drag - boredom, acid - a drug [1, p. 17].

In the language of the past decades dominated units of the first group, due to the growth needs of the society to give the names of the new realities that have arisen in connection with scientific and technological progress [1]. In semantic innovation understood the new values ??of existing words [4]. Thus the following options: 1) old words change their meaning completely, losing the previous (pre-existing); 2) in the semantic structure of the word appears another lexical-semantic variant (JICB) while maintaining all traditional.

Word box got some new values. In the British version it refers to "TV". In the American version JICB new matter "portable tape recorder." Television in the United States in situations of informal communication is called the tube (one additional value in the semantic structure of word tube) or the boot tube.

Number of neologisms at the lexical level is not subject to a calculation that neologisms are created not in the language in general as a system, and the implementation of the system. Signs of occurrence of new words in the language to be considered their " recurrence", ie the ability to play out of the original context, participation in semantic and derivational processes [3].

Thus, changes in active human experience lead to new and expanding old pieces worldview, which in turn require a fix to the "linguistic" map. Changing picture of the world, new industries appear: aerospace, computer engineering, genetic engineering, drugs, new types of food, new types of protest. Expanding the traditional sectors: sector diseases, drugs, diagnostics.

This means that the language will continue to be new words that will eventually all stages of socialization and lexicalization, ie their acceptance in society.
