Design as a means of aesthetic mastering of space occupies one of the leading places in the modern palette of human needs, because the space in which a person is located must provide not only his functional needs, but also meet his aesthetic requirements and expectations. It was design as an artistic project activity that led to the transformation of space into a higher-level category that combines functionality, utility with spirituality and aesthetics. Design is an organic component of art, the conductor of its function in all spheres of human activity, and the skill of the designer must be consonant with art.
Today, taking into account the active national socio-cultural development, the attention of domestic designers to graphic genres with the image of outstanding cultural figures of Ukraine is extremely relevant.
Taking into account, of course, the uniqueness and sphere of activity of an outstanding figure, today we can single out the following most popular objects of graphic design: illustrations for books by the figures themselves and about the figures, postage stamps, posters, street art objects, coins, etc., which have a distinct pictorial and stylistic specificity.
Let's consider this on the example of a stamp issued for the 125th anniversary of V. H. Krychevskyi. The image is presented in a graphic plan, which is quite close to the artist's style, which can be traced in his works on book covers, bookplates, etc. Krychevskyi is depicted in colossus and flowers, which visually frames the portrait and makes the overall composition more interesting.
Among the artistic and stylistic solutions of the postage stamp, it is possible to highlight the contrast in color and lightness - black and red, dark and light, as well as in forms - straight and curved lines, sharp elements and round ones, etc., which adds dynamics to the overall composition. The latter is also supported by the diagonal placement of elements. Artistic techniques include the use of lines and dots, rhombuses, etc., which makes the overall look of the stamp full and saturated.
A poster was made for this outstanding day. When developing the poster, the rule of the golden ratio was applied, as indicated by the lateral placement of the elements. On the left side, basic information about the event and a portrait of Krychevskyi are presented. The text is made in different sizes, which visually places accents when looking at the poster. The font color is also different, which helps to highlight the main information. On the right side, there is another image of Krychevskyi, but in full height, tracing is applied through a graphics program, which makes the image more qualitative and clear. Translucent light elements of Ukrainian folk ornament are also used, which undoubtedly illuminates the author's activity and his connection with Ukraine. These symbols were also used in the interior of the Poltava provincial zemstvo, where the event was held. The poster is made in calm tones that do not irritate the eye, and the color is associated with something ancient and historical.
Therefore, graphic design objects are a powerful popularizer of the activities of outstanding cultural figures, emphasize the importance of the artist and his contribution to the culture and history of Ukraine, popularize him as a person and show the pride of the Ukrainian people. There are different design approaches to the representation of information by means of graphic visualization, but all of them should be characterized by uniqueness and authenticity and be consonant with the creative content of an outstanding person.
