A feature of the modern stage of the development of science is its personal orientation, which is manifested in the focus on the development of the intellectual creative potential of the individual. This is also related to the intensification of biographical research, when the past is understood, evaluated, compared with the present through the lives and activities of famous figures who, thanks to their creative success, have become symbols of certain historical periods, representing turning points in the progress of nations and civilizations, the development of culture, education, sciences, etc.

The documents of the collection of rare publications of the V.O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine are a valuable source base for researchers-biographers. A significant segment of this collection consists of publications in German language of the second half of the 19th century - the early of the 20th century. Biographical editions of this period make it possible to gain valuable knowledge about the life and works of famous German teachers. For example, the name of Johann Friedrich Herbart not only entered the history of pedagogy, but also became a symbol of the pedagogical movement, the so-called "Herbartians". For the help of researchers of his biography, the fund of the V. O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine contains publications with an overview of interesting facts from his life [1; 3; 4; 5; 6].

Separately, we note the value of the epistolary heritage of famous personalities. Epistolary sources acquire special importance for the study of the role of the individual in the development of education, culture and society in general. There are the letters of Herbart and letters addressed to him in the fund of the V. O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine [2; 7]. Letters were and will forever remain a valuable source of information about the particularities of one or another era, the course of events experienced by an individual and society in general.

During the scientific research "Pedagogical science and education in persons, documents, bibliography" (2020-2022), researchers of the library organized a set of bibliographic descriptions of pedagogical publications in German language of the second half of the 19th century - the early of the 20th Century. The results of this research are presented in the scientific auxiliary bibliographic index "Pedagogical editions in German language of the second half of the 19th century - 1917 in the fund of the V. O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine" [8]. The materials of this reference edition will contribute to the solution of current tasks of source studies, bibliographical and historical content. biographical historical german teacher

The appeal of scientists to the original foreign-language literary sources of the fund of the V. O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine will make it possible to ensure the argumentation and meaningfulness of the results of biographical and historical-pedagogical research.

Немецкоязычные издания второй половины XIX - начала XX века как источниковая база для биографического исследования

Особенностью современного этапа развития науки является ее личностная направленность, которая проявляется в ориентации на развитие интеллектуального творческого потенциала личности. С этим связана и активизация биографических исследований, когда прошлое осмысливается, оценивается, сопоставляется с настоящим через жизнь и деятельность известных деятелей, которые благодаря своим творческим успехам стали символами определенных исторических периодов, олицетворяя поворотные моменты в развитии народов и цивилизаций, развитии культуры, образования, наук и т. д. Документы фонда редких изданий Государственной научно-педагогической библиотеки Украины имени В. А. Сухомлинского являются ценной источниковой базой для исследователей-биографов. Значительную часть этого фонда составляют издания на немецком языке второй половины XIX века - начала XX века. Биографические издания этого периода позволяют получить ценные знания о жизни и творчестве известных немецких педагогов. Например, имя Иоганна Фридриха Гербарта не только вошло в историю педагогики, но и стало символом педагогического движения, так называемых «гербартианцев». В помощь исследователям его биографии в фонде Государственной научно-педагогической библиотеки Украины имени В. А. Сухомлинского собраны издания с обзором интересных фактов из его жизни [1; 3; 4; 5; 6].

Отдельно отметим ценность эпистолярного наследия известных личностей. Особое значение эпистолярные источники приобретают для изучения роли личности в развитии образования, культуры и общества в целом. В фонде Государственной научно-педагогической библиотеки Украины имени В. А. Сухомлинского хранятся письма Гербарта и письма, адресованные ему [2; 7]. Письма были и навсегда останутся ценным источником информации об особенностях той или иной эпохи, ходе событий, пережитых личностью и обществом в целом.

В ходе научно-исследовательской работы «Педагогическая наука и образование в лицах, документах, библиографии» (2020-2022 гг.) научными сотрудниками библиотеки был организован комплекс библиографических описаний педагогических изданий на немецком языке второй половины XIX века - начала XX века. Результаты данной работы представлены в научно-вспомогательном библиографическом указателе «Педагогические издания на немецком языке второй половины XIX века - 1917 года в фонде Государственной научно-педагогической библиотеки Украины имени В. А. Сухомлинского» [8]. Материалы данного справочного издания будут способствовать решению актуальных задач источниковедения, библиографического и исторического содержания. Обращение ученых к оригинальным иноязычным литературным источникам фонда Государственной научно-педагогической библиотеки Украины имени В. А. Сухомлинского позволит обеспечить аргументированность и содержательность результатов биографических и историко-педагогических исследований.
