по теме: " The harmony of nature "

Цели и задачи:

· Развивающие: развивать способности к распределению внимания, коммуникабельности, умению выражать своё отношение к темам затрагиваемым на уроке, развивать способности к словесному выражению услышанного и к самостоятельному труду.

· Учебные: Формирование и развитие навыков и умений всех видов речевой деятельности: активизация лексики, аудирование незнакомого текста, обсуждение проблемы по данной теме в монологических и диалогических высказываниях, тренировка навыков письма, расширение словарного запаса.

· Воспитательные: Воспитание чувства ответственности и любви к окружающей среде, развитие познавательной активности, воспитание культуры общения.

Оснащение урока: учебник английского языка для V класса школ с углубленным изучением английского языка (авторы О. В. Афанасьева, И. Н. Верещагина); плакаты и картинки по теме “Животный и растительный мир”; тексты для чтения; таблички для игры; презентация по теме “Harmony of Nature”,магнитофон с звуковым заданием.

Ход урока

1. Организационный момент

Good morning, my dear friends. Sit down, please. How do you feel today? How are you?

So can you guess what the theme of our lesson is? (На доске картинки и плакаты с изображениями животных и растений).

The theme of our lesson is “Harmony of Nature”. We'll speak about flowers and animals because flowers and animals are the part of nature.

How do you understand the word “nature”?

P1: Nature is everything that surrounds us. It is air, water and land.

P2: I think the word `nature' means seas, forests, rivers, oceans and mountains.

And what about a man?

P3: A man is also a part of nature.

What does nature give us?

P4: Nature gives us food, water, air clothes and other things that we need for our life.

P5: it inspires pupils for writing poems, composing music and songs.

3. Проверка домашнего задания

And now I'd like to check your home task and your competence in the vocabulary. You should do the next task. You have the cards with definitions on your tables. Try to guess the words after definitions (they are from your active vocabulary) and write down them in your cards. Please, begin to work. You have only 3 minutes.

1. Mass of flowers on a bush or a tree. (blossom).

2. A large white or yellow flower. It grows in the water. (water lily).

3. The red colour and the blue colour together. (purple).

4. This flower is a plant that has long leaves and yellow or white flowers. (daffodil)

7. To go up by using both the hands and the feet. (climb)

8. This plant is a climbing plant that has many small, sweet-smelling flowers. (honeysuckle)

9. The national flower of Japan. This lovely flower can be red , white ,yellow and purple. (chrysanthemum)

10. That which is noticed by the means of the nose. (smell)

Nature is not only flowers and trees. Animals and birds are the part of our nature too. Many animals and birds on our planet are disappearing nowadays. Many of them are in danger. Do you know what animals are in danger? What does it mean “The Red Book”? (Ответы учеников)

Yes, you are right. I think it is necessary to help wild animals. Every ten minutes one kind of animals or plant disappears.

Look at the screen . It's a white stork. This bird is in the Red Book too. Do you want to know more facts about this bird? You'll read the text about the white stork. Take your texts, please. You may come across some unknown words. (Незнакомые слова выписаны на доске)

The White Stork.

This is a picture of a stork. It is a bird with long, thin legs and large wings. It is grey and white, and its long wings feather are black. Its thin legs and long beak are red.

The white stork, sometimes called the house stork, was at one time a common visitor to Britain, but now people don't often see them in that country. They live much more in other countries. In many of the villages in Spain, for example, storks often live on the top of the churches. This is where they build their nests. These nests are big and they are often very old. The same storks will come back to the same nests every year and when they die children will live in that nest.

People in the country like storks because they eat snakes, insects and small animals.

The stork spends the first part of the summer in countries in the northern hemisphere. In August it will leave these countries and fly a long way to Africa. Here it will stay for part of the winter. When spring comes again in Europe, the stork will return. In Segovia, a small town in Spain, people say that if the storks come back before the middle of February, the winter will be short. But if they return later, then the winter will be long and very cold.

Storks are very friendly birds and visit the nests of other storks. Before the birds migrate, all the storks in an area “ meet “ in the nearest big town every evening between 8 and 9 o'clock. They fly around the main church and they sit for a while on the top of the church and `speak' to each other. Then they fly back to their own village nests until the next evening. The people in the town always know when the birds will migrate because they meet like this for two or three weeks before they leave for Africa.

To have a short rest I'd like to offer such games. The first game is as follows. The name of the animal is hidden in each sentence. You should find these words as quickly as possible.

1. It is late. Do get up! (dog )

2. I met Eric at the door. (cat )

3. Can you find the path or see the way? (horse)

The second is a flower puzzle. The task is to put the word pieces together correctly in pairs and you'll have the names of 5 flowers. (На доске прикрепить в различном порядке разрезанные на слоги названия цветов. Дети должны найти нужные слоги и прикрепить их так, чтобы получились названия. Можно брать любые цветы по изученной теме, но всё же лучше, если слова будут многосложные.)

7. Развитие навыков аудирования

We have spoken about flowers and birds. Now I'm going to propose you to listen to the text the title of which is the “ The Day I Came Face to Face with a Tiger”. You may come across some unknown words. Listen to attentively this text and then think of your own end of the story and tell it for your classmates. The Day I Came Face to Face with a Tiger

My name is Tony Russel. Last year I went to Nepal for three months to work in a hospital. It was situated high in the mountains. I liked the place very much. The air was always fresh and there was a small lake which was not very deep not far from the hospital. I used to swim there early in the morning.

I think it's important to see as much of a foreign country as can, but it is difficult and sometimes dangerous to travel around Nepal. Once I had a few days' holiday from the hospital, so I decided to go into the jungle with my friend Kamal Rai who knew a lot about his own country and was fond of traveling among the mountains.

We started preparing for the trip at six in the morning and left our camp with two elephants. It was hot, but we were wearing shoes and trousers to protect us from snakes. In the jungle there was a lot of wildlife, but we were trying to find big cats, especially tigers. We got onto the elephants' backs but Kamal said it was unusual to find tigers in the middle of the day because they liked to sleep in the daytime, hiding in the grass.

Then suddenly we saw a tiger rather far and Kamal told me to be quiet. We came nearer and saw a dead sheep in the grass. This was the tiger's lunch!

We heard the tiger a second before we saw it. What do you think happened then?

We have spoken a lot today about animals, flowers and world around us. What should we do to reach harmony of nature? What do you think about it?

We are the part of nature and we must live in accordance with nature's laws. I think our traveling in the world of nature was useful and interesting. You know so many interesting things.

Your hometask is to write a letter to your friend about favourite flower.
