Abstract

DEFINITIONS IN THE EDITORIALS OF JAPANESE NEWSPAPERS

The article considers various types of definitions, identified as a result of the analysis of editorials of the main Japanese newspapers Yomiuri, Mainichi, Asahi. Articles were taken of the same date from different newspapers and were devoted to four different events: in 2017 -- the terrorist attack in Paris, in 2019 (for April 2) -- the announcement of the new era of the emperor's reign, in April 13, 2019 -- the extension of the decision to withdraw Britain from the EU, in April 19, 2019 -- the beginning of the Japanese- American trade negotiations. All the events of different emotional orientations described in the articles, which have different meanings for the people of Japan, are reflected in the peculiarities of the use of definitions in these articles.
