Legal linguistics as a rapidly developing area of scientific research

Legal linguistics is a discipline that bridges the realms of law and language, exploring the relationships between linguistic structures and legal concepts, legal practice, and the linguistic realization of legal norms. This field involves the analysis of legal discourse, interpretation of legal terminology, the structure of legal documents, and the study of the language's influence on the processes of legal application and law enforcement.

Legal linguistics is a new and promising interdisciplinary direction that is gaining particular relevance in the context of building a rule of law state, reforming the legal system, and intensifying the codification process in Ukraine.

In Ukraine, legal linguistics is a rapidly developing area of scientific research. The study of linguistic aspects of the law is becoming increasingly important, as the correct understanding and use of legal language are crucial elements in ensuring the rule of law. Researchers, experts, and students actively study legal terminology, analyzing its lexical and semantic structure. Ukrainian legal linguistics is focused on studying the specifics of legal language, comparing linguistic features across different branches of law, and researching and standardizing legal terminology [2].

First and foremost, it is worth noting that the language of jurisprudence holds significant importance not only at a local, sectoral level but also in the broader context of contemporary state-building. In this field, critical issues include the unambiguous understanding of terms, the negative aspects of borrowing Russian forms, linguistic preparation of future lawyers, and more. As for statebuilding, these issues encompass the proper drafting of legislation and the establishment of the Ukrainian language as a priority in jurisprudence, among other considerations.

Important Aspects of Legal Linguistics comprises the following aspects:

1. Linguistic analysis of legal texts focuses on examining the linguistic characteristics of legal norms, contracts, court decisions, and other legal documents. Research includes the analysis of lexical composition, grammatical structure, style, and other linguistic features of texts.

2. Terminological analysis is oriented towards studying the structure and meanings of terms used in legal texts. This aspect involves the creation and improvement of terminological dictionaries and glossaries.

3. Research on the style of legal texts aims to identify the peculiarities of legal style, its norms, and functions. This includes the analysis of formal and informative aspects of language.

In global practice the study of legal linguistics is of great significance as well. In every country it is important to consider linguistic peculiarities and traditions in the field of law for the effective application of legislative acts, the avoidance of misinterpretation, and the promotion of legal enforcement at both national and international levels [1].

This discipline combines legal science and linguistics and plays several key roles: legal linguistics plays a crucial role in translating legislation from foreign languages into the country's native language. Accurate translation is critical since any inaccuracy can lead to misunderstandings and incorrect application of the law; legal linguists' study legislative texts, as well as court decisions and legal documents, to understand their content and specific semantic meanings. They help identify inconsistencies and contradictions in legislation and rectify them; legal linguists may be called upon as experts in legal cases to analyze texts, testimonies, and evidence. They assist courts in understanding linguistic nuances and determining the precise meanings of specific terms and expressions; legal linguistics contributes to the development and standardization of legal terminology. This helps avoid unwarranted ambiguities and ensures consistent understanding of the same terms in different legal contexts; it is an important component of educational programs for law and linguistics students. It prepares professionals capable of effectively working with legal texts and applying language skills in the legal field. All these roles of legal linguistics are crucial for a country's legal system, as they promote clarity, accuracy, and understanding of the law, which forms the foundation of justice and democracy.

Legal linguistics is a discipline that studies the linguistic aspects of the legal system and their influence on the judicial process, legislative process, interpretation of legal texts, and their implementation in practice. Research in the field of legal linguistics allows for the understanding and analysis of legal language, which serves as the primary tool in the legal sphere [2]. Ukraine, like many other countries, is witnessing a growing interest in legal linguistics. This is associated with the continuous development of the legal system, adaptation to international standards, and the necessity for precise and comprehensible linguistic expression of legal norms and concepts.

In Ukraine, scientific research on legal linguistics is actively conducted, and specialized courses are offered in higher educational institutions. On a global scale, legal linguistics is an important area of research in many countries. The development of international relations, globalization, and intercultural communication make legal linguistics exceptionally relevant. Current research focuses on analyzing linguistic features of legal texts, developing specific terminological databases, and studying the impact of language on the processes of legal application and lawmaking. In conclusion, legal linguistics is a significant and topical field of research both in Ukraine and around the world. Its development contributes to the enrichment of legal and linguistic culture, the improvement of the legal system, and the enhancement of the efficiency of legal enforcement.
