Legal linguistics development in Ukraine and in the world

This research article examines the role and importance of legal linguistics as an interdisciplinary field that combines legal and linguistic science. The history of legal linguistics development in Ukraine and the world, as well as its influence on the modern legal system and practice, is studied. The article also provides examples of specific issues that are studied in the field of legal linguistics, using Ukrainian and international research in this area.
Legal linguistics is an integral part of modern jurisprudence, as it allows us to understand and analyze the language of law, which has its own peculiarities and nuances. This interdisciplinary field studies the specific vocabulary, grammar and structure of legal texts, as well as the impact of language on the understanding and application of laws. The article examines the history of legal linguistics in Ukraine and the world, its current state and prospects for further development.
History of legal linguistics development
Legal linguistics as an independent science began to develop in the second half of the twentieth century. Ukraine is no exception in this process. In the Soviet period, legal linguistics was somewhat limited due to ideological restrictions and lack of access to foreign sources. However, after Ukraine's independence in 1991, new opportunities for the development of this field opened up.
Legal linguistics has also developed worldwide, especially in the European Union. It has become common practice to create specialized legal terminology databases and other resources to ensure the quality of legal texts.
The history of legal linguistics shows a gradual recognition of the importance of language and linguistics in legal science and practice. An important stage in the formation of this field was associated with the development of linguistics and jurisprudence in Europe and Ukraine.
In Europe, the ideas of legal linguistics began to develop actively in the nineteenth century, when lawyers and linguists began to realize the importance of language in the creation and interpretation of legal texts. Fundamental research on the linguistic aspects of law was carried out by prominent scholars such as Ferdinand de Saussure and Rudolf von Jarich [1]. The creation of the first legal dictionaries and terminology databases contributed to the clear formulation of legal provisions.
In Ukraine, the ideas of legal linguistics have an earlier history. As early as the Middle Ages, Ukrainian lawyers actively studied the law and legal texts, improving their language. However, after the annexation of Ukraine to the Russian Empire in the nineteenth century, the development of national legal linguistics was limited [2].
After gaining independence in 1991, Ukraine was able to actively develop this field. As the legal system and language of the independent state were being established, Ukrainian scholars began to study legal terminology, court decisions, and legislative acts.
Current state and development prospects Today, legal linguistics is an active field that is of great importance for the legal system of Ukraine and the world in general. Ukrainian scholars are currently researching various aspects of legal linguistics, including:
* Translation of legal texts: The study of translating legal acts from one language into another is an important aspect of legal linguistics. It is crucial to ensure that the content of laws and documents is accurately reproduced in different languages.
Analysis of legal terminology: Studying and standardizing legal terminology helps to avoid ambiguities and confusion in legal texts.
Language of court decisions: The study of the language of court decisions and acts of public authorities helps to ensure their comprehensibility for all participants in the legal process [3].
The current state of development of legal linguistics shows that this field has great potential for further development and contribution to improving the quality of the legal system in Ukraine and the world.
Legal linguistics in Ukraine and worldwide is an important field that contributes to the clarity and accuracy of the language of law. It plays a key role in modern jurisprudence and contributes to the comprehensibility and accessibility of legal texts for all citizens. Research in this area can help improve the quality of the legal system and practice.
