The dissertation is dedicated to the problem of raising the level of quality of student's knowledge on the basis of introduction the methodical system of making up and doing sums in Physics. The work is the investigation of developing the methods of making up and doing sums in Physics according to the standards of Physical education in Ukrain. Didactic principles and methodical requirements to the content and doing sums in Physics in secondary school are defined. Expediency of using computer programmes while making up and doing sums in Physics is investigated. Methods of defeinition the level of developing student's convergentive and divergentive thinking with the help of the special tests are worked out. The tasks for the tests were sorted out taking into consideration the psychological and pedagogical resources of the method of approach in doing sums in Physics. The criteria that allon to estimate the complication and difficulty of a physical sum, the levels of student's independent work while doing sums, the levels of student's comprehension of sums are determsned. The main results of the work have found their use in Physics lessons of Odessa regional school, in out-of-school activities while preparing to the regional Olympiads, in contests for young physicists, in reports prepped by the physical department of the branch of Odessa Malaya Academy of Science, in work with students of South-Ukrainian Pedagogical University named after K.D.Ushinskiy and listeners of Odessa Jnstitute of teacher's advanced training cjurses.
