Problems of health-saving pedagogy in the works of the scientists of the Republic of Poland

Abstract

The article presents the short content of modern (after 1989) scientific works of Polish authors on various problems of health-saving pedagogy.

The purpose and tasks of the article are related to the presentation of the abovementioned exploration and the coverage of the theoretical and practical bases of the organization of the educational process in preserving, strengthening and forming the health of children and young people contained therein.

Research methods: the research methods aimed at describing the content essence of the dissertations and monographs of Polish scientists and their certain classification; Various methodological approaches have been applied in order to provide as objective and comprehensive information as possible about the issue mentioned in the article.

The results of the study: analysis of over thirty dissertations and monographic works of Polish scientists have been made; increased attention of scientists to the problems of theory and practice of health-saving pedagogy have been revealed; the vectors of scientific researches in this sphere such as: philosophical, theoretical and methodological aspects of pedagogy of health; legal basis for the modernization of modern health care policies of the Polish state; a value component in the design of the content and forms of education for health; promotion of health; organizational and pedagogical principles of educational work on preservation of strengthening and formation of health of children and youth; diversity of health-directed educational effects; formation of health-saving competences of students by means of education; strategies of professional training of the future teacher to health-saving activities are determined.

Проблеми здоров'язбережувальної педагогіки у працях науковців Республіки Польща

У статті представлено короткий зміст сучасних (після 1989 року) наукових праць польських авторів щодо різних проблем здоров'язбережувальної педагогіки.

Мета і завдання статті пов'язані з презентацією згаданих розвідок та висвітленням уміщених в них теоретичних і практичних основ організації навчально-виховного процесу щодо збереження, зміцнення і формування здоров'я дітей та молоді.

Методи дослідження спрямовувалися на опис сутності змісту дисертацій та монографій науковців Польщі і певну їх класифікацію; застосовано різноманітні методологічні підходи з метою забезпечення максимально об'єктивного і цілісного уявлення про проблему, зазначену у темі статті.

Результати дослідження: проведено аналіз більше тридцяти дисертаційних та монографічних праць польських вчених; виявлено підвищену увагу науковців до проблем теорії і практики здоров'язбережувальної педагогіки; визначено вектори наукових пошуків у цій сфері, а саме: філософські, теоретичні і методологічні аспекти педагогіки здоров'я; нормативно-правове підґрунтя модернізації сучасних стратегій здоров'язбережувальної політики польської держави; ціннісний компонент у конструюванні змісту і форм виховання для здоров'я; промоція здоров'я; організаційно-педагогічні засади виховної роботи щодо збереження зміцнення і формування здоров'я дітей та молоді; різноаспектність здоров'яспрямованих виховних впливів; формування здоров'язбережувальних компетентностей учнів засобами освіти; стратегії професійної підготовки майбутнього вчителя до здоров'язбережувальної діяльності.

Introduction

The quality and quantity of productive forces and the potential of the future social development of any state depend on the state of health of children and young people.

Various programs and projects are being implemented in modern Ukraine, the national network of health promotions chools is expanding, competitions for pedagogical developments are held, many textbooks, manuals, methodological recommendations, video lessons are created that help practicing educators to formulate in the growing person's perceptions and knowledge about the basics of health.

But, as statistics show, the state of health of children and young people in the country continues to deteriorate.

Here fore, an important problem today is the search for new forms and methods of educational activities that would contribute to the preservation, strengthening and enhancement of the health of pupils. This, in turn, makes it necessary to use positive foreign experience in domestic practice.

Poland is close to Ukraine due to its geographical location, culture, centuries-old historical ties and Slavic mentality. This country has interesting traditions and powerful and effective experience in solving theoretical and practical aspects of healthcare saving pedagogy.

Aim and tasks research. The purpose and tasks of the article are related to the presentation of modern (after 1989) scientific works of Polish authors and the coverage of the theoretical and practical bases of the educational process of preserving, strengthening and shaping the health of children and youth.

Research methods. The research methods were aimed at describing the essence of the content of dissertations and monographs of Polish scientists and their classification. Various methodological approaches were used to provide the most objective and coherent picture of the problem mentioned in the article.

Research results

In the Polish scientific space, the term «pedagogy of health» in the 70-80's of the twentieth century was introduced by Machey Demel (Maciej Demel, 1923-2017). Scientific generalizations of the scientist, presented in his intelligence «About Health Saving Education» («O wychowaniu zdrowotnym», 1968) and «Pedagogy of Health» («Pedagogika zdrowotna», 1980), became the source from which subsequent generations of Polish scientists «drew» understanding of the conceptual thesis of healthcare saving pedagogy. Among the works devoted to the philosophical, theoretical and methodological aspects of pedagogy of health it is worth noting the dissertations of Irena Kropinska (Irena Kropinska) «Persuasion for health. In search of a pedagogical perspective» («Przekonanie zdrowotne. W poszukiwaniu perspektywy pedagogicznej») [13], Ivona Yanina Taranovich (Iwona Janina Taranowicz)

«Health and ways to overcomeits threats. Sociological analysis» («Zdrowie i sposoby radzenia sobie zjego zagrozeniami. Analiza socjologiczna») [22], Monika Zofya Binkovska-Bury (Monika Zofia Binkowska-Bury) «Factorsthat determine human health andthe quality of life associated with them - selected issues» («Czynniki warunkujqce zdrowie czlowieka i zwiqzana z nimi jakosc zycia - wybrane zagadnienia») [1], as well as the study of Eva Syrek (Ewa Syrek) «Health in the aspect of social pedagogy» («Zdrowie w aspekcie peagogiki spolecznej») [21] and «Health and education and quality of life. Perspectives and humanistic cognitive orientations» («Zdrowie i wychowanie a jakosc zycia. Perspektywy i humanistyczne orientacje poznawcze») [20].

The axiological aspect as the basis for constructing the content and forms of education in the field of health was studied by Miroslav Kovalski (Miroslaw Kowalski) in the work «The Value of Education and Health Culture in Different Educational Environments» («Wartosc edukacji i kultury zdrowotnej w roznych srodowiskach wychowawczych») [12]. The treatment of health as a value and prerequisite of possibility for the person to carry out any activity, to enjoy life, to feel happy presented in the dissertation of Joanna Chapka (Joanna Czapka) «Health as a value in a situation when it is in danger» («Zdrowie jako wartosc w sytuacji jego zagrozen») [2].

The normative and legal basis for the modernization of modern health care policies of the Polish state was analyzed by Piotr Zbigniev Tyshko(Piotr Zbigniew Tyszko)in the research «Health and Healthin National Strategic Documents» («Zdrowiei ochrona zdrowia w krajowych dokumentach strategicznych») [23] and by Izabela Yach-Menchekalska (Izabela Jach-Mоczekalska) in the work «Legal Aspects of the Transformation of the Health Care System in Poland after 1989. Interdisciplinary Research in Health Sciences and Law Sciences» («Prawne aspekty transformacji systemu ochrony zdrowia w Polsce po 1989roku.Interdyscyplinarne studium z zakresu nauk o zdrowiu i nauk prawnych») [8].

One of the important directions of the state and public institutions in the field of health improvement is the so-called promotion of health. Analysis of the identification of favourable for this process, socio-economic conditions and the consequences of this activity, are the main topics of the study of Violetta Korporovich (Violetta Korporowicz) «Health and its promotion. Forming the future» («Zdrowiei jego promocja: ksztaltowanie przyszlosci») [10]. Healthcare-saving education is understood by the scientist as an education process, the purpose of which is to change the behaviour of a person, aimed at strengthening health. The author offers a number of technologies for designing health promotion programs, analyses the essence and presents the criteria for economic appraisal of such programs, which makes it possible, in the opinion of the scientist, to choose optimally the most effective among them.

We note a series of dissertation researches of Polish scientists, in which the organizational and pedagogical principles of educational work on preservation of strengthening and formation of health of children and youth are specified, namely: «Pedagogical conditions of development of physical activity and skills, favourable health, for children of junior school age» («Pedagogiczne uwarunkowania rozwoju aktywnosci ruchowej i postaw prozdrowotnych dzieci w mlodszym wieku szkolnym») [16] by Anna Nitecka-Valerych (Anna Nitecka-Walerych); «Pedagogical determinants of health efficiency in preserving the education of elementary school students in the Gdansk Voivodship» («Pedagogiczne wyznaczniki efektywnosci wychowania zdrowotnego uczniow szkol podstawowych wojewodztwa gdanskiego») [24] by Barbara Danuta Vilk (Barbara Danuta Wilk); «Mobile class as a pilot model of motor stimulation for children of junior school age» («Mobilna klasa jako modelowa proba stymulacji ruchowej dzieci w wieku mlodszym szkolnym») [19] by Barbara Sobchyk (Barbara Sobczyk); «School and out-ofschool environment in the process of formation of health-oriented attitude of students» («Szkola i srodowisko pozaszkolne w procesie ksztaltowania postaw prozdrowotnych uczniow») [17] by Gabriela Piechachek-Ogyerman (Gabriela Piechaczek-Ogierman); «Health Society of Gymnasium Youth in the Context of School Ecosystems» («Zasoby zdrowotne mlodziezy gimnazjalnej w kontekscie ekosystemu szkoly») [5] by Anna Helena Gavel (Anna Helena Gawel); «Physical activity and knowledge about the healthy lifestyle of schoolchildren from Lower Silesia» («Aktywnosc fizyczna i wiedza o zdrowym stylu zycia slqskich gimnazjalistow») [29] by Mateush Antoni Zyemba (Mateusz Antoni Ziemba). рolish educational health preserving children

We also should note the work of Magdalena Voynarovska-Soldan (Magdalena Woynarowska-Soldan) «Social climate at school which promotes health» («Klimat spoleczny w szkole promujqcej zdrowie») [26], devoted to the analysis of school performance, which should be taken into account when modeling the educational and organizational aspects of the educational process, focused on preserving, strengthening and forming the health of members of the school community. Among the indicated indicators, the researcher points out positive (satisfaction with study / work in school, the creation of opportunities for participation in the life / activity of the school, social support, motivation for success, the opportunity to work effectively at lessons, respect for student's rights) and negative (overloading with labour / science, frequent feelings of stress in school, manifestations of violence and social behaviour among students, etc.).

The multidisciplinary of health-directed educational effects is presented in the writings of Jaroslav Herbert (Jaroslaw Herbert) «Recreational and tourist activity in the system of physical education as a factor of health and life style of youth» («Aktywnosc rekreacyjno-turystyczna w systemie wychowania fizycznego a zdrowie i styl zycia mlodziezy») [7] and Alicya Marianna Glovacka- Toba (Alicja Marianna Glowacka-Toba) «Family Health and the Problem of Obesity in Children» («Zachowania zdrowotne w rodzinie a problem otylosci u dzieci») [6].

To the forming the health of preserving competences of students by means of education is dedicated the dissertations of Halina Macyeyevich (Maciejewicz Halina) «Preparation of 7th grade elementary school students for their own health care» («Przygotowanie uczniow klas VIII szkol podstawowych do dbalosci o wlasne zdrowie») [15], Agnieshka Anita Zalevska-Meler (Agnieszka Anita Zalewska-Meler) «Healthcare-saving education on the threshold of the main school and competence of the student» («Edukacja zdrowotna na progu szkoly podstawowej a kompetencje ucznia») [28], Katarzyna Bozhucka-Sitkyevich (Katarzyna Borzucka-Sitkiewicz) «Promotion of health and healthcare education» (Borzucka-Sitkiewicz, 2006) and Agnyeshka Anna Leshch-Krysyak (Agnieszka Anna Leszcz-Krysiak) «The Level of School Health Saving Education» («Poziom szkolnej ed u kacj i zd rowotnej») [14].

An important component of pedagogy of health is the figure of a teacher who keeps, strengthens and shapes the health of his pupils. Here scientific interest is the research, the authors of which determine the strategies of professional training of the future teacher to health- oriented activities, develop special educational disciplines, methodological recommendations, focused on the formation of skills and skills of future teachers in the field of healthcare of students, namely: «Attitude to health The Physical Culture of the Students of the Pedagogical Direction and Their Future Profession» («Postawy wobec zdrowia i kultury fizycznej studentow kierunku pedagogicznego a ich przyszly zawod») [18] by Monika Alicya Slavek (Monika Alicja Slawek); «Attitude to health as a determinant of the training of students of pedagogy to participate in the process of health saving upbringing» («Postawa wobec zdrowia jako wyznacznik przygotowania studentow pedagogiki do udzialu w procesie wychowania zdrowotnego») [4] by Anna Helena Gavel (Anna Helena Gawel); «Healthcare-saving education of future teachers of physical education in accordance with the needs of the school which being reformed» («Edukacja zdrowotna przyszlych nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego wobec potrzeb reformujqcej si§ szkoly») [11] by Yolanta Kovalska (Jolanta Kowalska); «Health- preserving behavior of primary school teachers in the Mazovian Voivodship» («Zachowania zdrowotne nauczycieli szkol podstawowych w wojewodztwie mazowieckim») [3] by Aneta Duda-Zalevska (Aneta Duda-Zalewska); «Everyday experience and professional identity of physical education teachers» («Codziennosc doswiadczen zdrowotnych a tozsamosc zawodowa nauczycieli kultury fizycznej») [28] by Agnieshka Zalevska-Meler (Agnieszka Zalewska-Meler); «Preparation of teachers of high school in Poland for2009-2012 to prevent addictions» («Przygotowanie nauczycieli szkol gimnazjalnych w Polsce w latach 20092012 do profilaktyki uzaleznien») [9] by Yaroslav Korchak (Jaroslaw Korczak); «Teachers' Training for the Implementation of Challenges in the Area of Road Safety» («Przygotowanie nauczycieli do realizacji zadan z zakresu bezpieczenstwa ruchu drogowego») [25] by Aneta Kinga Vnuk (Aneta Kinga Wnuk).

Conclusions and prospects for further research

We have analysed more than thirty dissertations and monographs of Polish scientists. High attention was paid to the problems of the theory and practice of health preservation pedagogy. The vectors of scientific researches in this sphere are determined, namely: philosophical, theoretical and methodological aspects of pedagogy of health; legal framework for the modernization of modern health care policies of the Polish state; a value component in the design of the content and forms of education for health; promotion of health; organizational and pedagogical principles of educational work on preservation of strengthening and formation of health of children and youth; diversity of health-directed educational effects; formation of healthcare-saving competences of students by means of education; strategies of professional training of the future teacher to health-oriented activities.

The study allows to identify the content of the above-mentioned works as a valuable source of Polish experience in the implementation of the tasks of pedagogy of health, which should be used in the modernization of the national health principle educational process.
