Operation Of Landfill "DubnaRight Bank"

The article describes the data provided by the enterprise LLC "Ecosystem" air quality on the territory of the landfill "DubnaRight Bank."
Solid household waste (SHW) management remains an important environmental issue, in the Moscow region as well, because of SHWintegrated impact on the environment. A high actuality of the present work is due to the fact that operation of landfills requires continuous monitoring of pollution in all components of the environment, including atmospheric air.
Monitoring of air pollution over the territory of the landfill "DubnaRight Bank" is a constituent part of the general system of observations carried out by the enterprise LLC "Ecosystem" in accordance with RF legislation in force.
The landfill "DubnaRight Bank" is 1 km south-east of the south-east Dubna town boundary. waste pollution reclamation atmosphere
The polygon area is 4.2 ha. It borders a large forest to the north, west and south and the gardening and residential area POST "Spring" to the east.
The gardening and residential area POST "Spring" is in close proximity of the landfill. The minimum distance between the POST "Spring" and the "DubnaRight Bank” east border" is 50 m.
The nearest residential area (residential quarters “Akademicheskii") is located at a distance of 900 m to the north-east of the landfill border.
According to SanPiN 2.2.1 / 2.1.1.1200-03 the landfill is classified into class 1 and has a sanitary-protection zone of 1,000 m.
Monitoring of the industrial site revealed 6 sources of air pollution, all unorganized, across the landfill "DubnaRight Bank" existing at the present time.
The sources emit 16 kinds of pollutants, such as nitrogen dioxide, ammonia, nitrous oxide, carbon black, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, methane, xylene, toluene, ethyl benzene, formaldehyde, hydrocarbons (for gasoline), hydrocarbons (for kerosene),
hydrocarbons limit C19-C12, inorganic powder: SiO2, abrasive dust.
Currently, the landfill "DubnaRight Bank" is an artificial hill, with slopes peppered with soil at the bottom. On average the upper terrace of the landfill is at 125.5 m. (at 8 m above the surrounding area level). The landfill project allows loading itup to the design level of 126.5 m (9 m above the surrounding area level) so that after recultivation using soil cover its height will be 11 m.
The loading of the landfill continues in stages using the mapping cartesian method. On the map waste receiving, storage, compression, soil interspersion were performed.
The total recultivation area is 4.6 ha, including 4.2 ha of SHW storage area and 0.4 haof the outer slope of the dam and the surrounding technological road.
The technological phase of recultivation includes:
-forming slopes with a standard angle of laying 1:4 by cutting or bedding soil or aligningusing compression;
- building a ring dirt damto provide for design landfill loading;
- forming a slightly inclined ground (1: 200) on the top of the landfill body to complete final operation;
- sealing waste with a bulldozer;
- forming the final layout of the landfill surface.
The final cover has a laminated structure.
This article describes the results of processing of the data on main pollutants released into the atmosphere from the landfill "DubnaRight Bank” provided by LLC "Ecosystem".
The presented results will help assess the risks due to pollutants released into the air during the operation of the object.
Study of the industrial site of the landfill "DubnaRight Bank" demonstrates the existence of six sources of air pollution: technical equipment storage ground; equipment refuel ground; technological road; SHW disposal working card; ground pit; SHW polygon. Each of them has sources of pollutants into the air. Analysis of the data shows that the greatest contribution to pollution is from the dumping body of the landfill. For this site there is the following data on emission of pollutants into the atmosphere: methane 1332.50484 ton/year, toluene 18.20658 ton/year, ammonia - 13.42200 ton /year, xylene -11.15562 ton/year. For the other areas of the landfill "DubnaRight Bank" emission of pollutants into the atmosphere is much smaller and does not exceed 1 tonne per year [1].
For the aims of the study there were obtained data on air pollution in the working zone at point №1 (the type of samples taken: GOST 12.1.005-88), i.e., the landfill body, landfill upper terrace (Table 1) and at point №2 (the type of samples taken: GOST 17.2.4.02-81), i.e., on the
border of the gardening area 50 m east of the landfill. The date of analysis is April 1, 2015.
Measurements of the concentration of the studied air pollutants in the atmospheric air and in the working zone air were carried out using the gas analyzers GANK-4. The quantitative chemical analysis error for all measurements is 20%.

The data presented in Table 1 shows that emission of the above pollutants into the air of the working area of the landfill does not exceed the maximum allowable concentration.

Analysis of the data presented in Table 2 shows that emission into the air of pollutants from the landfill does not exceed regulatory requirements.
Thus, analysis of the data shows that pollution in the working area (point №1, the dumping body, upper terrace) from the landfill is higher than air pollution at the border of the gardening plot (point №2, 50 m east of the landfill) in the following substances: ammonia (up to 0.0121 mg/m3), hydrogen sulfide (up to 0.01433 mg/m3), methane (higher than by 2,069 mg/ m3), toluene (up 0.0303 mg / m3), ethylbenzene (up to 0.0071 mg/m3).
